An appreciation of art and culture, a desire to make a difference, and a mission to empower and connect women across the world are the driving forces behind our brand, Diosa del Sol.
In June of 2016, Michelle D was travelling in Guatemala and met artisans making hand-crafted and unique pieces of jewelry that were being under-appreciated and underrepresented. She decided to buy a small amount to share with friends and family in Canada, and the response was extremely positive. Michelle D approached her best friend Michelle C and proposed they develop into an official company and thus, Diosa del Sol was born.
We currently have six families in Guatemala manufacturing jewelry, with the majority being traditional Mayan beadwork that can take around eighteen hours for one piece! Diosa del Sol has been vending at music, art and yoga festivals around North America and Central America, and hope to expand the brand with the launch of this website and online store. We have dreams to include more artists from around the world under our brand, and are fuelled by the tangible impact to well deserving people living in a much harsher reality. We are excited for the growth of Diosa del Sol and to continue seeing women and men light up with joy as they connect to their one-of-a-kind piece and give it a home.
